We seem to be in something of a cartoon footwear renaissance. Last year saw Transformers and Beavis and Butt-Head lines from Puma and Adidas respectively, and just this summer Chinese sport and street brand 361° marked the 40th anniversary of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise with its own phenomenal capsule collection. But those searching for something a bit more rugged (yet no less eye-catching) should look no further than today’s release, a limited-edition SpongeBob SquarePants collab from Timberland.
Yes, America’s premiere outdoors-wear manufacturer and the very epitome of ’90s hip-hop cool, The Timberland Company, has joined forces with Nickelodeon to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the equally iconic SpongeBob SquarePants television series. The kicks in question are Timberland’s classic 6-inch waterproof boots in two unique colorways — bright blue with jellyfishing SpongeBob and a more understated black with SpongeBob tongues and clever Krabby Patty branding.
Built to last, these boots boast premium leather uppers, 400-gram PrimaLoft thermal insulation, rubber lug outsoles, lined tongues, and extra laces. Best of all, they’re available in and toddler ($90), youth ($110), junior ($140), and, yes, adult ($220) sizes in stores nationwide starting today, Friday, September 13.
